climate The North East Tasmania Wine District includesa variety of towns and villages in north-eastern Tasmania: Bridport, Winnaleah, Branxholm, Scotsdale, Gladstone, Derby and St Helens. This is a district with surprising variety - # from the wild natural area and bushwalking trials of Mt William # to the neatly manicured croplands and grazing fields near Ringarooma and Scottsdale # to the rugged rocky outcrops of Mt Barrow and Ben Lomond # to the rolling green dairy pastures near Winnaleah, with its sole vineyard # to the exciting coastline landscapes and offshore fishing at St Helens and Bridport # to the rows of green-flowering hops in Springfield and Tonganah. Each town has its own unique character and charming community and its own surprises - for example the sapphires you can pan for in the abandoned tin mine spoils near Derby and Branxholm # the farm cheese at Pyengana # the winter snow skiing and summer bushwalks on Ben Lomond's craggy slopes; the expanse of gleaming yellow sand dunes at St Helens # rough-cut granite blocks used to construct the towering Eddystone Point lighthouse # and the sweeping views of forests and farmlands throughout the North East District. The only winery in the area is Winnaleah Vineyard.

The North West Wine Region includes two districts : North West Coastal ; North West Inland
