climate The Newcastle Wine District includes the wineries close to Newcastle and the towns dotted along the Hunter River, including: Hexham, Sandgate, Raymond Terrace. The district ids part of the Lower Hunter Wine Region that follows the Hunter River Valley from Newcastle to Murrurundi. Newcastle is famous for its wonderful array of surfing beaches, its fascinating heritage and fine exmples of heritage buildings and its thriving arts and entertainment scene. There is a well developed focus on regional foods and fine wines with its great restaurants, bars, cafes, farmers markets and many fresh food outlets.
