climate The Hay Wine District is part of the Riverina Wine Region in south-west New South Wales. The district is centred on the rural service centre and tourist destination of Hay located on the Murrumbidgee River, surrounded by the vast expanse of grasslands and grazing properties of One Tree Plain, situated about 730 km south-west of Sydney. The township of Hay features many magnificent heritage buildings and museums that showcase the town's rich heritage. The major industries in the district are beef industry , sheep and wool and there are a number of famous sheep studs in Hay and in the surrounding area. Hay has excellent facilities and has a wide range of things to do and see, including: # Fishing, canoeing, camping, kayaking, bushwalking and bird watching on the Murrumbidgee and along its banks. # Enjoy the town's heritage walk # See the Booligal Sheep Races held in early October. Join in the fun of the Hay Jockey Club Races and Hay Lions Football Fishing Competition.
