climate The Delegate Wine District, in the Snowy Mountains Wine Region includes the area close to the NSW and Victoria border, high in the mountains. The District is centred on the small towns of Delegate and Bonang (across the border in Victoria). The town is located about 550 km south of Sydney. Delegate is a rather isolated community which provides tourist services, mostly for the keen trout fisherman who used as a base for their fishing expeditions. Delegate features many historic buildings including the former Court House and Police Station. The neighbouring Victorian township of Bonang was once a thriving gold mining town, and you can see the remnants in the area including an historic water tunnel constructed to change the course of the Delegate River to increase the water flow to drive a local water wheel. The area has wonderful scenery with many attractive waterfalls, bushwalking tracks and picnic locations.

The Snowy Mountains Wine Region is home to 8 districts: Cooma ; Berridale ; Jindabyne ; Dalgety ; Bredbo ; Nimmitabel ; Bombala ; Delegate.
