climate The Port Lincoln Wine District is located on the Southern end of the Eyre Peninsula and includes wineries and vineyards near the townships of Port Lincoln, Coomunga, Green Patch, North Shields - south of Tumby Bay. Port Lincoln is well known as the Seafood Capital of Australia and is a major service centre for the agriculture and aquaculture industries on the Eyre Peninsula. Port Lincoln is also a very popular tourist destination and there is a wide range of excellent accommodation to suit every budget and taste, including caravan parks, hotels and motels, Bed and breakfasts, flats and units and holiday houses. The magnificent marina at Lincoln Cove, is home to the tuna fishing fleets of the Great Australian Bight. Port Lincoln offers a treasure trove of holiday ideas, from boating, fishing and sailing, touring aquaculture industries, to diving with great white sharks. There are also many fabulous beaches in the area and great surfing. Port Lincoln is renowned for its local seafood that includes: abalone, rock lobster, pacific oyster, western king prawns and tuna. You can buy fresh products or enjoy the seafood in the many excellent restaurants that specialise in seafood served with local wines. You can stroll though the various galleries and museums including the Lincoln Maritime Science Centre and the Axel Stenross Maritime Museum. At the Glen-Forest Tourist Park you can get up close and personal with wombats, kangaroos, koalas and many more animals in a delightful setting. You can also enjoy bushwalking along the many trails in the coastal park area and enjoy the magnificent views. Cape Carnot has magnificent scenery, and nearby is Sleafords Bay that offers many fantastic beaches.Port Lincoln is home to the famous Tunarama Festival, held every January, which showcases the best in local wine, seafood, art and music - and includes the famous tuna tossing championships. Local wineries in the area include: Boston Bay, Delacolline Estate, Glen-Forest Tourist Park.
