Morisset Wine District, NSW

The Morisset Wine District is located in the area between the Watagan Mountains and Lake Macquarie, centred on the modern community of Morisset which is located about 110 km north of Sydney and about 50 km south west of Newcastle. It is part of the Central Coast Wine Region. There are a wonderful range of attractions and excellent facilities for a wide range of recreational activities. The major natural assets are the natural areas of the Watagan Mountains, offering bushwalking and camping in the temperate rainforest with waterfalls, sandstone cliffs, and the waterways Lake Macquarie for enjoying boating, fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming, and the beautiful beaches along the coast. Some of the local attractions, activities and events include: # The historic town of Cooranbong. # Bushwalking, rock-climbing and mountain bike and 4WD trails in the Watagan Mountains # Enjoy the fabulous scenic views from Heaton Lookout # Local craft and Farmers Markets, including the famous Morisset Mega Market, that is open every weekend.
