Gundagai Wine Region, NSW

The Gundagai Wine region is a small less known region in southern New South Wales that produces outstanding Semillon. The Region has the town of Gundagai at it centre and includes the other villages and towns of Jugiong, Tumut, Adelong, Batlow, Cootamundra, Junee, Temora. The region adjoins the Riverina Region in the West, Canberra Region in the East and the Tumbarumba Region in the south, and lies within the Southern New South Wales Zone. The Murrumbidgee River flows westward through the heart of the region and the Snowy Mountains forms the south-east backdrop to the south-east. The region is regarded as cool-climate with elevations ranging between 500 m and 1000 m above seal level. The main varieties grown in the Gundagai Region are Chardonnay, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz.

The Gundagai Wine Region is home to three districts: Gundagai ; Tumut ; Cootamundra ; Junee.
