The Walgett Wine District is located in the North Central Wine Region in northern New South Wales. It is centred by the tourist and agricultural town of Walgett that is located on the Namoi River near where it flows into junction of the Barwon River, about 700 km north-west of Sydney. The rich and fertile black soil plains support a range of agricultural, horticultural and grazing including cotton, wool, wheat, wine grapes and sheep. Walgett is the entrance to the magnificent and world-renowned opal fields of Grawin, Glengarry, Lightning Ridge and Sheepyard.
