Texas is a small town located on the border between New South Wales and Queensland lying
to the west of Tenterfield. The area is easily accessible from all directions from
visitors from both NSW and Queensland. It is located in the New England wine region on the
Dumaresq River at the intersection of Gunyan Road and the Broadway.
Texas is a just a three-and-a-half hour drive from Brisbane, 3 hours from Tweed Heads
and Byron Bay, 3 hours from Armidale, and about 11 hours from Sydney.
There are a range of wineries in the surrounding hills and dotted along the floodplain of the
Dumaresq River. This district is worth a visit when you are visiting the nearby
famous winery regions of the Granite Belt and New England.
