The Central West Wine Region is located west of the Blue Mountains, in the heart of New South Wales.
This area contains a wealth of natural resources and is home to a wide variety of mining, agribusiness, food processing,
manufacturing, tourism and agricultural industries and a thriving community based on a number of towns and villages:
Bathurst, Cowra, Forbes, Lithgow, Orange, Parkes.
There are separate wine regions surrounding the townships of Cowra Wine Region and
Orange Wine Region. The Central West has a mid climate with winter temperatures, from 2 - 12 degrees Celsius, and some frosts, and summer temperatures ranging from 13 - 28 degrees Celsius. The Lachlan Valley River system has prime irrigated land that is the backbone of the region's economy. Wool, cattle and wheat have traditionally formed the core of the local agriculture industry, with significant expansion into dairy farming, olives, horticulture and viticulture. Tourism is expanding as a very important to the region, based on its reputation for fine food and wine, its stunning landscapes, National Parks and natural attractions.
