The Hawkesbury Nepean Region is located on the banks of the Hawkesbury and Nepean rivers, west of Sydney
and includes the towns of Penrith, Richmond, Windsor, Kurrojong, Ebenezer, Wisemans Ferry, Maroota.
See
the Macarthur Region which includes the area around Camden, Picton and Campbelltown. There are now about 35 small vineyards in these three regions. The delightful and scenic semi-rural floodplain area is an ideal day trip from Sydney and is very popular with tourists. The best varieties are Chardonnay, Semillon, Chambourcin, Shiraz and Merlot, but the region is still developing its character.
Local attractions in the region include Gledswood Homestead and Winery, Mount Annan Botanic Garden, Farm Gate Trail and the Enniskillen Orchard.
