The New Norcia Wine Region is a small region north of the Perth Hills including the famous Bennedictine Abbey winery at the township of New Norcia. It includes wineries in the vicinity of New Norcia, Bindoon, Mogumber and Colingini. Located on the Great Northern Highway, about 130 km North of Perth this is the peaceful setting of New Norcia, which is Australia`s only monastic town. This unique Benedictine monk community and facilities were established in 1847 by Don Rosendo Salvado and continues today to showcase a sense of peace and tranquillity. New Norcia features awe-inspiring cathedrals of its chapels, and in the song of birds on the nearby Moore River. You can enjoy guided tours of the 65 fascinating buildings, about half of which 27 are classified by the National Trust. You can also
visit the Museum and Art Gallery. The Gift Shop offers a wonderful range or local
produce including New Norcia's renowned Bread, Nut Cake, Olive Oil, Abbey Wines,
Biscotti and Pan Chocolatti. Accommodation is available at the New Norcia Hotel.
