The Port Stephens Wine Region includes the area surrounding the magnificent waterway of Port Stephens located about two hours north of Sydney in New South Wales. The region includes the land area surrounding the embayment and the hinterland areas. The magnificent waterway is lined with more than 30 km of clean, white, sandy beaches, and the waterway is renowned as a paradise for sailing, boating and fishing and virtually all other watersports and activities. The climate is warm throughout the entire year with no winter frosts. Cool sea breezes maintain mild temperatures in summer. Port Stephens is a diverse area of opportunities and has three distinct areas: the Tilligerry Peninsula, Tomaree Peninsula and the Golden Bight area extending right around the bay. You can take a cruise out onto
the spectacular Bay and enjoy a Dolphin Watch or a Whale Watching tour adventure. Many operators offer
snorkelling as part of the package. There are excellent facilities for all sorts of sports including:
tennis, scuba diving, fishing, jet skiing, snorkelling, and scuba diving, surfing, golf, skiing and sailing.
You can visit the local galleries, arts and craft museums, weekly craft markets, the Wetlands Centre, the
Tilligerry Wildlife Habitat or explore the famous Shell Museum. There are several wonderful boutique
wineries in the area. Murrays Craft Brewing Company offers Brewery Tours take every day at 2pm.
The tour includes a walk through the hops gardens and vines to the Brewery for
an information session and tastings of beer and local wines. There is entertainment every Sunday and regular events such as Jazz At the Winery - in March, Murray`s Brews and Blues Festival - at Easter, and Oktoberfest - in October. Divers Luck is another local winery situated at Nelson Bay.
