climate The D`Entrecasteaux Channel Wine Region is based on the area surrounding The D'Entrecasteaux Channel that features protected coves and bays and is very popular for boating, sailing and fishing and has an excellent cool climate for wines. The D'Entrecasteaux Channel extends between Bruny Island and the south-east coastline of Tasmania. It connects the estuaries of the Derwent, and the Huon Rivers and extends from Piersons Point to Verona Sands. It includes a set of interesting villages dotted along the coastline: Tinderbox, Margate, Kettering, Woodbridge, Snug, Birchs Bay, Flowerpot, Middleton and Gordon. A vehicular ferry carried cars. people and goods from Kettering for the northern end of Bruny Island, which has its own wineries. There are eight wineries in the Northern District, mostly near Tinderbox and Kettering areas. Perhaps the most famous vineyard in the area is Herons Rise Vineyard that overlooks Bruny Island and D'Entrecasteaux Channel. This winery has been producing unique boutique wines for more than ten years, focusing on Pinot noir and Muller Thurgau, sold as dry white. Other wineries in the north include: Bellendena Vineyard, Bracken Hill Vineyard, Buona Vista Vineyard and Fluted Cape Vineyard. In the south wineries include: Geddington Vineyard, Geebin Vineyard, Jollymont Vineyard, Milnathort Wines, Wattley Creek Wines, Wayaree Estate.

The D`Entrecasteaux Channel Wine Region includes two districts : D`Entrecasteaux Channel North ; D`Entrecasteaux Channel South
