The Stanwell Park Wine District is centred on the sea-side village of Stanwell Park and Stanwell Tops, in the Illawarra Wine Region, close to the south-east entrance to the Royal National Park. Stanwell Tops and Stanwell Park are well known for their fabulous cliff and coastal views, lovely beaches, great fishing, picnic areas and great surfing spots. Bald Hill at Stanwell Park is famous as a world-renowned hang gliding site with tandem hang gliding and paragliding flights available and expert instructors. At the top of Bald Hill is a memorial to Australia's first person to fly - Lawrence Hargrave. He pioneering much of the early aeronautics work in Australia, and the world, with many of his early flights carried out in Stanwell Park. Bald Hill has a beautiful lookout over the pristine dramatic
coastline stretching north and south. The area surrounding Stanwell Park offers some fantastic bushwalks, ecotours and many natural attractions and activities. There is a fabulous walk to Kelly`s Falls. Visit the renowned Symbio Wildlife Gardens to see native fauna, exotic animals and a range of farmyard animals in a serene garden environment. Visitors can pet some of the animals and there are educational talks each day.
