The coast border district is location at the southern part of the Gold Coast, on the New South Wales and Queensland border.
Close to Coolangatta is the NSW twin town of Tweed Heads and in the hinterland are the towns of Carool and Springbrook.
This area has are some fabulous beaches in this area. Coolangatta and Tweed Heads offer an array of wonderful patrolled
beaches and features some excellent surfing locations such as Kirra and Greenmount. Surrounding Coolangatta there are many National Parks and attractive natural areas where you can go bushwalking or relax with a barbeque or picnic. The Tweed and Gold Coast areas are not generally well known as a wine producing district, however the hinterlands areas with its elevation and unique terroir and climate is suitable for growing Cabernet Sauvignon,
Chardonnay, Chamboucin, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. While not an ideal climate for growing grapes the Tweed and Gold
Coast Hinterland is an outstandingly beautiful part the Australian coast featuring a moderate sub-tropical climate,
stunning valley and ocean views and it is a very popular tourist area.
Grapes are also sourced from other wine districts in Southern Queensland and the Granite Hills area near Stanthorpe.
The area has a diverse range of other tourist activities including coffee and macadamia plantations,
rainforest tours and boutique arts and crafts. You can also enjoy wine tasting, winery tours, coffee and morning
teas and wonderful lunches and evening meals at local restaurants and cafes.
