The Gawler Wine District includes the area on the Adelaide Plains north of the Angle Vale Road between Gawler and Two Wells. Gawler is a scenic and well-planned country town, located near the junction of the South and North Para Rivers. Gawler has a reputation as the oldest country town in South Australia. It was established in 1839, and contains many wonderful historic buildings. The town services a thriving agriculture region and is also a tourism centre. There are many attractions in town including: community markets, horse-racing, art galleries, micro-lights flights, glider flights. Gawler has a wide range of accommodation and is an ideal place to use as a base for exploring the Adelaide Plains, the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills Regions.
