The Koonunga Wine District includes wineries near the township of Koonunga, Kapunda, Neukirch, Moppa, and St Johns and is located about
20 km North of Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley Wine Region. Kapunda, is often described by visitors as being
'one of the South Australia's best kept secrets'. Kapunda, which is located only about 80 km north of Adelaide,
has a rich history and has many magnificent stone buildings. Kapunda showcases the prosperous mining era
associated with Australia's first commercial copper mine. The town also has a thriving artist community.
Just a 10 minute drive south of Kapunda is the Barossa Valley winerires and 20 minutes north is the
premium wine growing district of the Clare Valley. The two wineries in the district are Nietschke Wines and Old Kapunda Distillery.
