The Binalong Wine District is centred on the small town of Binalong in the Canberra Wine District located about 25 km south of Boorowa and 25 km north-west of Yass. The area lies at an elevation of 475m above sea level on the Southern Tablelands of NSW north of Canberra and the ACT. Binalong has a delightful setting and is enjoying a new lease of life as a tourist attraction and as a trendy place for people to retire or enjoy life running internet businesses in the country. Binalong has small number of boutique wineries in the surrounding district and the area would appear to be suitable for future development. Binalong is also home to growing community of local craftspeople and artists with many shops and studios in Binalong and the surrounding district that are open to the public.
