The Mount Compass Wine District includes wineries, the Southern Fleuieu Wine Region in the area surrounding Mount Compass and Mount Jagged. The district is home to Mount Jagged Wines located 8 km south of Mount Compass. The first plantings were in 1989. The major climatic benefits of the area lies in its strong maritime influences, which lead to higher humidity and moderating effects on temperatures. The major plantings are of Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Semillon. All the wines produced are sourced from the vineyards at Mount Jagged vineyard and show the genuine 'terroir' of the Mount Compass site. Mount Compass lies between the world-famous wine regions of McLaren Vale, Eden Valley and McLaren Vale. Close by are the beautiful beaches of the southern Fleurieu Peninsula.
You can spend time exploring the hidden valleys of Tooperang and Nangkita, browse through the various nature reserves,
gardens and nurseries. Enjoy the wonderful native flora and fauna on the many bushwalking tracks or
indulge yourself in the district's tastes of the fine food, fresh produce and wines along the Mount Compass Produce Trail.
