The wine region extents from Cape Jervis in the south west across the most of the Fleurieu Peninsula to the portion of the
Mount Lofty Ranges located to the immediate northeast of the peninsula and finishing near Willunga on the west side of the ranges
and near Ashbourne in the east side of the ranges.
The natural adventure playground of the Southern Fleurieu Wine Region is renowned for its beautiful coastline, its secluded beaches,
its wonderful adventurous tours and thrills and range of wildlife. The Southern Fleurieu Peninsula is home to some of the best vineyards,
seafoods and fresh produce in South Australia. The Southern Fleurieu is paradise for snorkellers and scuba divers, with stunning marine
life and a range of dramatic shipwrecks. The wildlife includes the famed Leafy Seadragon, whales and seals. The area is very popular for boating and fishing The area also has a thriving arts and crafts community and many regular events. The Fleurieu Peninsula is home to such stunning wine regions such as McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, and Currency Creek. The Southern Fleurieu Wine Region boasts
32 vineyards. The climate on Fleurieu Peninsula ranges from mild, to temperate.
Most of the area is affected by the proximity to the ocean and the frequent sea breezes, except for the areas around
Mount Compass and Myponga and the higher elevation areas near Willunga.
The average rainfall is 500-600 mm, most of which falls during winter.
The many varieties are Shiraz, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
