The Inner Perth Wine District includes vineyards and wineries in the Swan District Region in
the suburbs of Perth. Most of the wineries in the Swan District are concentrated in a narrow
band along the Avon River just north of Midland and in the upper reaches of the Swan River around Guildford..Two of the Western Australis's largest wineries (Sandalford Wines and Houghton Wines), are located in the Swan Valley, together with many smaller specialist and boutique wineries. The main table wine varieties grown in the region are Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon Verdelho, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Muscat Gordo Blanco and Muscadelle are grown for producing fortifieds wine varieties. The area has a hot climate, but the elevation exposes the area to the afternoon sea breeze in summer.

From humble beginnings in 1948, Paul Conti Wines has become one of WA’s most reputable and respected boutique, family-owned wineries. Located only 30 minutes north of Perth, the Woodvale property, which now houses a modern winery and restaurant, was the original homestead of Carmelo (aka Charlie) and Rosa Conti who, in 1927, immigrated to Australia from a small town in their homeland of Sicily.
